It’s a Holiday for Homebrew
Holiday Wine Cellars in Escondido has announced their first ever homebrew competition to commemorate their 45th anniversary. There’s no entry fee, and the winner will have the chance to brew a 15-gallon batch of their beer with Patrick Rue of the Bruery, plus have their beer for sale—in bottles at HWC and on tap at select bars around town.
If you’re interested in entering, you must register ahead of time, and drop of six 12-ounce or four 22-ounce bottles to the store between September 18 and October 1 at 2pm. Details and registration forms are on the HWC website. The contest is limited to the first 75 registered particpants.
Ten finalists will be chosen by the public, so head on up to the store on October 3 from if you’d like to help judge. Judging must be completed by 3 pm, but the anniversary celebration goes from noon to five and includes contest tastings and food (tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door). A panel of judges will select three winners from the top 10 beers. Pretty cool if you ask me.
